Jose David Saldivar

Leon Sloss, Jr. Professor of Comparative Literature

Professor Saldívar has received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Literary and Cultural Criticism from the Western Literature Association, the Chicano Scholar of the Year Award from the Modern Language Association, the Sarlo Distinguished Graduate Student Mentoring Award from UC Berkeley and, most recently in 2016, he was the winner of the American Literature Society’s highest honor, the Jay B. Hubbell Medal.

This year, José David was challenged with the selection of Stanford’s beloved Three Books for incoming students.
